Book review: Wanting Mr. Cane

Title: Wanting Mr. Cane

Author: Shanora Williams

Rating: 4.5 stars

When I saw that Shanora was writing another forbidden romance, I knew I had to read it. I loved Tainted Black and Untaited, so it was little surprise I loved Wanting Mr. Cane as well. I loved the angst, heat, the age gap and all the drama. The story is about a girl and her dad’s best friend.

“I had fallen hard for him, and it hurt so much to want a man I couldn’t have.”

Kandy Jennings and Quinton Cane knew from the beginning that what they felt for each other would have consequences. Ever since she was a little girl Kandy had a crush on Cane and as she became older she started developing real feelings. Cane is much older, not to mention friends with her father but she still feels a powerful attraction towards him. Once Cane becomes aware of Kandy’s feelings, he tries to overcome his own attraction as to not jeopardize his friendship with Kandy’s father. He wants to do the right thing, but his attraction and what he feels for Kandy is real.

“Wanting you is a beautiful challenge, Kandy Cane, and though it’s complicated, I don’t want to figure this one out anytime soon. As selfish as it sounds, I want this challenge to last for as long as it possibly can. I love the spontaneity of what we have—the satisfaction I get when I see your smile, and the comfort I feel when your skin touches mine.”

These two have such great chemistry and they just get each other like no one else. I love Kandy and Cane as a couple but there are so many obstacles standing in the way of being together. And that cliffhanger! I’m glad I can read the next book straight after finishing this one.
