Book Review: My Oxford Year

Title: My Oxford Year

Author: Julia Whelan

Rating: 4 stars

Ella Durran is a 24 year old American who has just received a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford. On top of that, she has just been offered a job to work with a potential presidential candidate’s campaign. She has a very promising future ahead of her. On her first day in England she has a run in with Jamie that ends up in her shirt being ruined.

Jamie Davenport is teaching a literature class and is surprised when he sees Ella. These two have a connection and can’t seem to stay away from each other. They decide to be together while Ella is in England, with no stings. But inevitably, feelings start to develop and things for them start to change. The problem is things get more complicated then what was first seen.

Jamie and Ella were great together and there was a great supporting characters as well. The book was fun, charming, heartwarming and bought all the feels. It was a touching coming of age and romantic story and quite different from any counterparts. There has been a lot of buzz about this book and am glad that I read it.
