Bookish Academy Awards Tag 2018

I saw this tag watching booktube and I was inspired to do it myself. All the winners are from the books I read in 2017 and there were many to choose from. I read 237 books last year, not as many as previous years but still a lot by most standards.

The Outlander series was one of the main things I read this year and something that is a big love of mine. Outlander does win a lot of categories for me but I will try to have diversity in my answers.

So without further ado, here are this years winners!

Best Actor: Best Male Protagonist

I loved reading Outlander and I have such a love for James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser.

Best Actress: Best Female Protagonist

Much like Jamie, Claire Randall Fraser was such an amazing strong woman.

Best Cinematography: Best Plot Twist

This book was so unique and definitely had a plot twist that I didn’t see coming.

Best Costume Design: Best Book Cover

I was sent this book to review by the author but I completely fell in love with the cover before reading the book which was also amazing.

Best Supporting Actor and Actress: Best Male and Female Sidekick

I loved Preppy in the King series, he was such a great supporting character and I was so happy when he got his own book series. The whole series in general was filled with great supporting characters.

Best Original Screenplay: Most Unique Plot/World

I think this was the only fantasy book I read this year but Amy did an amazing job with the world building.

Best Adapted Screenplay: Best Book-to-Movie Adaptation

There were three books that I read this year that had been made into movies/miniseries/TV: Outlander, Thirteen Reasons Why and And Then There Were None. All of which I loved.

I watched And Then There Were None and fell in love and consequently read the book which was also amazing. Plus this was my first reading experience of Agatha Christie.

Best Animated Feature: A book that would work well in animated format

I think this would make be great animated, who doesn’t love mermaids. Plus I feel a lot of the romance I read would be a little strange being animated.

Best Director: A writer you discovered for the first time

Devney was a new author in 2017 and this was her debut novel and it was amazing, as was every book in the series.

Best Visual Effects: Best action in a book

This had plenty of action, kidnapping, MC clubs, guns and fights plus it was a spin-off of one of my all-time favourite Trilogies Nine Minutes.

Best Short Film: Best novella or short book

This was short, sweet and romantic. I love this fairy tale series by Katy and this book was based on Rapunzel.

Best Musical Score: Best Music-to-Book Adaption

This book is filled with musicians. He plays the saxophone and she is a singer plus this book was amazing.

Best Picture: Best standalone

This book was just all-round incredible.

Best Documentary: Best Historical Fiction or Non-fiction

I read a lot of good historical fiction, Outlander being the main one. But I re-read Edenbrooke and it’s one of my favourites.
