Title: In Harmony

I was given an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review
Emma Scott delivers another heart-felt and emotional read that masterfully interweaves Shakespeare’s Hamlet into the story. In this wonderful story, we meet seventeen year old Willow and nineteen year old Isaac.
Willow was like every other highschooler, she was popular and a high achiever getting ready for college, until she wasn’t. One night changed her life forever. From this moment she has never been the same and she is just surviving and not living. That was when her light faded. X-marked the spot.
Her father gets a promotion and Willow ends up moving from New York to a small town called Harmony in Indiana. Willow doesn’t mind the move as she sees it as a way to start fresh. The first day of school sees her stealing the seat of the hot guy in class Isaac, the acting prodigy and being befriended by the girl who won’t take no for an answer for friendship.
Willow is intrigued by Isaac, just like everyone else in school. Isaac is the misunderstood bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, being raised by a drunk of a father after his mother died when he was young. Willow sees him in the production of Oedipus Rex and she is amazed at his skill. His performance makes her feel something.
The community theater is putting on a production of Hamlet. The owner who is like a father to Isaac has hired some acting scouts to come check out his performance, so he can leave Harmony for good. But everything changes when Willow auditions for the play and gets the role of Ophelia.
As they rehearse the play the connection between Isaac and Willow grows stronger. But Willows father has forbidden her to have any interaction with Isaac but this doesn’t stop them from falling in love. So much of Hamlet and the tragedy is reflected in their own lives as the play and real life interact with each other.
This book was so emotional and delivers the perfect story as only Emma Scott can do. These two characters have been through so much hurt but together they overcome and make the perfect couple. These two share so much love and so much heartbreak.
This is truly an amazing book, as I would expect nothing less from Emma Scott. She proves time and time again just how an accomplished writer she is and is one of my favourite authors.
