Book Review: The Space in Between

Title: The Space in Between

Author: Brittainy C. Cherry

Rating: 4 stars

I love Brittainy C. Cherry’s books and she has become one of my favourite go to authors. I have made it my mission this year to read all of her books to date, thus brings me to The Space in Between. This is Cherry’s debut novel and the last of her published books that I’ve read. I can see a lot of growth in Cherry’s writing but this book was amazing and of course made you feel all the emotions.

Andrea is going through a difficult time as she loses her fiance days before her wedding. Finding the small town she’s living in confining she decides to move to the city where she moves in with her best friend Ladasha. What she doesn’t expect is to run into an old friend in a very in an unexpected place.

Cooper has always cared for Andrea but he is going through a lot right now as well. Things are crazy in both their lives. Finding that ‘Space in Between’ where they can just be together is important to the both of them.

“Over here is Order. I’m gonna assume both of us are pretty damn far from Order, yet we’ve already hit rock bottom Chaos. So how about we just explore the space in between the two?”

“The space in between. The place where we wouldn’t have to talk about the past or worry about the future. The place where we didn’t get personal or talk about our dreams and fears. The place where any level of affection and tenderness was simply a way to forget about past hurts. A type of drug that drowned out the rest of the world. I could do the space in between.”

This is a second chance/friends to lovers that really makes an impact. Cooper and Andrea are there for each other and help each other heal. There were some great secondary characters and I particularly liked Ladasha and will be interested if she gets her own story.

I will look forward to anything Cherry writes and am happy that I have read all that she has to offer. Reading all her books I can easily see how she is one of my favourite authors.
