Title: Th1rteen R3asons Why
Author: Jay Asher
Rating: 3.5 stars
This is book of heard of and has always been on the back of my mind to read. When I saw the Netflix series, it made me want to read the book before I watched it. I don’t usually read a lot of YA anymore but I’ve always been curious to read this one.
Clay receives a box full of cassette tapes only to realise that they’re from Hannah- a girl who recently killed herself. Clay listens to the tapes on one long night as the story of Hannah unfolds, as each new reason is discovered and a new identity is revealed.
This was an interesting story and really highlights the how a person’s actions (even if it’s something minor) can have far reaching consequences on someones life. However I lacked a connection to the characters and it wasn’t a read that made me emotional (as something like typically would).
